I just tried this. It did not work for me, but I seemed to be completely disconnected from the servers. I could not view the quantity of any gear that I had. I went to the market and it showed zero owned for gear I know that I have 20 or more of.

After walking up to a console and opening the associated menu, the menu text does not fade. It should fade. I know this is small.

I've experienced something similar, but involving getting stuck on the steep paths in the mountains when going up. After I get stuck and can't move for 10 or so seconds, the game has suicides me. Also it seems like I'm shaking before I die.
