You can be pretty sure that a merc in a corp with 47k members is a NPC corporation. Not a player corporation. As the biggest EVE corporations only have a few thousand members at the most.

So what you see is a general NPC corporation that pilots join.

The Chribba is smarter than me. The biggest my mining corporation ever became was a few dozen pilots so I never figured out the top level membership.

It takes an EVE pilot to get very high numbers because the skills required currently only exist in EVE. The corporation is the same in the game no matter if it was created in DUST or EVE. You can even pass CEO leadership between pilots and mercs.
