@snow: Took me 3 tries to figure out what I wanted. I find that after you make your character it's best to immediately create an alt and use it's SP to try out EVERYTHING! Once you've done so it will be easier to figure out what you want. Once you've made a decision and are prepared to commit to it THEN you go back to your main (should've been gaining passive SP the whole time) and start on a road map.

I, unfortunately, did my tests on my main which is why it took me 3 tries but at least I have a path to take.

The second step for me was learning the odds and in of the game. Eventually I figured it out but no lie... the process was BOOOOOOORING!
Had I had a tutor at the beginning everything would've gone soooo much smoother! Would've also been much more exciting.

I'm pretty sure I have found what I want to do now, and with the assistance of Bojo I should be capable of sticking with it. My main problem is that I strive to be unique, which means seeing a few other people using something that looked like my fitting gave me incentive to restart.

Luckily, very few people actually try to take LAVing to the next level, and among those very few use the Saga, so I have a niche that only I and a couple other people fill, which makes me happy.

My advice to people who strive to be unique like myself, just forget about it. Use something you enjoy and don't worry if other people use it too, even if it becomes FOTM stick with it. Once you get to prototype gear then you can start creating very diverse fittings and find your unique niche to fill.

Of course, with the new suits coming in hopefully more people will find unique fittings that suit them well while still being viable, and maybe FOTM will cease to exist, but that is probably being a bit to hopeful.]]>

Recently, a new player stumbled across my squad and a few of my friends.
We spent two hours or so teaching him about the game, and I think it's honestly one of the most fulfilling things I've done in Dust.

Because of this, I am offering my services as an infantry tutor for new players.
Cat Merc will also be assisting me.

What I offer you:

  • Guidance in your first steps
  • Assistance in fitting, SP allocation, and where you want to take your character
  • Tutelage on how to survive better in matches
  • Starting funding

This will take the format of you and I in a squad together (possibly with assistants). There will only be one or two pupils at a time, to better teach you. Once there, I will run through anything you would like to know about almost anything in Dust, and explain exactly what you should try doing to improve your fittings and what equipment I think you might like, etc.

After you're in a suitable dropsuit, we'll go into a match. From there we'll stick together and I will give you feedback every step of the match.

This service is free. To get the full benefit out of this, you will require a microphone or headset. To request it, send a mail inquiry to either this character or 'Arkenai Wyrnspire' and I'll get back to you personally.

This sounds amazing for new players, and I know for a fact that if I wasn't one of Bojo's apprentices then I would jump on this chance immediately.

One thing I recommend focusing on is getting new players to find a fitting they truly enjoy and stick with it, though you probably already know this. I know that if I had someone get me to commit to one fitting when I started the game then I would be sitting around 10 million sp, but instead my most skilled character I have I made last night, and I have restarted at least 50 times, though it is probably closer to 75.
