This is not a rant or rave or even me crying or being entitled. I've always had an interest in game design. And I love the way ccp talks with their player and seemly try's to please the majority while keep the game balanced and fun. I myself started playing dust at the start of open beta. And I remember the horrible spawns, the game cutting out, lots of just weird things the players reported it and the stuff got fixed.
What I can't figure out is why you took the dust everyone played day in and day out, and changed so much to the point it's a new game. Now this said I understand adapt not an issue and the game is still fun, but its simply not the dust it was two days ago. We understand the SS nerf we all wanted to some extent. We even understand the damage nerf.
What I'm really getting to is why did you change things we never said anything about? Why nerf the heavies range to where I literally laugh at them(then feel bad when I kill them) Why did you change the aiming? Why make the core skills on dropsuits more than vehicles? Why why why?
Point is why change things we as a player base were happy with no one cryed about some of the thing that were "fixed" an now they are broken. We can't help you guys as a community if you ninja stuff behind our backs. It's your game true but you have empty code without us. Lets all work together to make dust awesome together without doing ninja stuff to the game.... Please
Last last thing dust is 6days away from launch you know and we know its not ready. I say screw the nice little 5/14 **** if you release this game and people like ign review it... Man it could hurt our player base even more. |

Well, I am obviously not CCP lol, But I can provide some insight to some of these things.
1. Range, it is not just HMGs, it is everything, they removed the Sharpshooter skill, or more precisely what it did before. However, their range was most certainly one of the most cried about aspects around here. For a while there, everyone was saying how it was a CQC weapon and shouldn't outrange an AR. (Ofc, it only did when the HMG user had much better Sharpshooter, but that shows why they removed it.) Now that it doesn't outrange the AR anymore, everyone is crying the other way? Sheesh talk about hard to please.
2. Aiming. As has been confirmed a couple of times, in threads that are on the front page at this time of posting, especially one with the big blue DEV tag, that there as a bug with aiming and they are trying to figure it out. After reading the thread, and chiming in at the end, I agree that turn acceleration is broke, and feels wonky. Hopefully this gets fixed sooner rather than later, I agree.
3. The skills, well, ok I agree this is a tad odd, especially with Logis having no choice but to skill through proto basic frame to get a decent amount of equip slots. Was hard to drop that ~2m SP, definitely. |

There are already numerous threads addressing each of your issues separately and in further depth with many answers and discussions coming out of them. Surely it would have been a better idea for you to just add to them instead of making another new thread for several things? |

I do believe you are asking wrong people those questions. They are Community Team. They deal with you. They are not developing the game directly :) Maybe Wolfman, Remnant or Blam would know this. Or even Praetorian. |

I know my thread op doesn't say it too well but my point is why did they change the mechanics everyone loved? Did they have to for some reason? Is it a bug? Did they simply not know we loved the game the way it was minus some issues like lasers and range of ars. Just why such a radical change just before launch seems... Odd? That the right word? |

While I don't expect answer from a blue tag I can try. I'm just curious why they would change all the mechinics before a release. And despite what people might think its not a qq or troll or any of that. I a curious customer interested in dust and planning a future in game design. Changing almost every aspect of a game before release seems odd and very risky. |

I, for one, never loved the Sharpshooter mechanic, always felt a bit silly to me. I only heavily skilled into it to get the stupid range advantage on every weapon, so as not to be left behind the curve,
Falloff is still a concern, as there is literally none atm, but that has been addressed by the Weapons Master CCP dude (can't remember his name at this second). It is coming, and very soon. However, HMGs are and always were meant to be CQC/Point Defense weapons. The fact that Sharpshooter changed that shows exactly why it had to go.
I do realise that limits some of the playstyles that used to exist, but these voids are to be filled with other weapons, rather than a tacky skill-based range increasing mechanic. Yes, I realise we don't have them yet, but CCP have said all along that these changes are paving the way for all the new stuff, and that is definitely one of the reasons for the removal of the old Sharpshooter mechanic. |
