I should say pay to win....leaderboards can be dominated by those w/ a bigger wallet......I absolutely love this game, but it definitely gives those w/ playstation points a huge edge over those w/ talent.....that's what i hate about 'free to play'. I know that's how dev's make their money, and I am pro capitialism but every battle i go into it seems like there are a LOT of guys wearin tier 5 prototype suits...and they are hard for me to kill. Peace out and happy gaming! |

Normally I'd disagree with you.
But the proto suits at level 3-4 which ever, is very ridiculous.
Which is why I'm staying in my tank until next build.

Normally I would troll you but this thread speaks too much truth to warrant a proper troll from me. |

Hang out with me more often, you won't have as much trouble. :D
While I've seen players with a fair amount of AUR purchased equipment, they die just as well as anybody else on the field. |

On the plus, at least it's only armor protos. I tried one, meh, I'll stick with my type II. Armor blows.
Damage mods trump it all, thems just cost isk! |

lol cuz its so true,
Who would ever spend the sp on proto when that million + sp can go elsewhere?
Its not like the majority of us don't get an active booster every month from merc pack right?
Spend the 40k aur on proto suit until everything else is good, then skill proto. |

if people wanna buy AUR gear it's their choice to gamble real life money isnt it? in m experience so far apart from the early proto suits weapons arent anything special. |

I agree that lvl 3 is way to early. I can see lvl 4, and they should cost a lot more. And the isk suits at the top should be the highest quality. |

If ccp found a way for ppl to actually want to buy aur items, then cool. Although, once they get the skills to buy the isk version, I don't see why they wouldn't. We die alot and I'd imagine that the aur suits get expensive after awhile. I see it more like an impulse buy, like they just couldn't wait to get the proto. I don't see it as p2w since we can train and get the same thing for isk. The major difference is that they can field it everytime they die until it runs out and has to buy more. Although thats pretty much the same for isk, but if the aur user wants to spend 40+ dollars on gear a month, then cool, they will have more money to develop the game. We would only notice this in the instant matches because when district battles come out, then everyone will be using their best gear anyways.
Would you be happy if the proto only let you skip one skill level instead of two? In the long run, that doesnt matter. It only matters to someone who is new. |

Thats all the AUR items really are, just things to buy so you can use better gear while you get your skills to buy them |

im just sayin f2p is great...i love it...i just wish the playing field was evened by skill (or lack there of) rather than by money. I usually need a game or 3 to get warmed up then i go 15/2 or somthing like that...i love logistics and helpin my teammates...i dont' think you should be able to buy ur way to the top in beta stage of a game...if I know you EARNED it then i'm gonna have mad respect for you |

I like the current system. This is New Eden, money is power, power is control, and money also mean having the best troops and gear.
In reality thats pretty much how it works right. You cant run around on the battle field yelling "Man our squad had way more skill....but the cheesed us with this expensive gear."
Also you never have to spend real world money on anything to be competitive. I bought a BPO dropsuit but havent used any other auirum items since then.
Pay to win is a good system, though pay doesnt mean you need to acttually waste your money to be top of the leader boards, just grind your sp up, nab those isk items, and focus less on killing enemies and more of securing objectives and supporting the team. |

Today I encountered several aur protos... I know this because he just kept bringing the damn things in... I mean I was csmping his spawn and he had to know it after the second insta death but he kept coming in shiny black suits...
Madness I say madness!
Long story short I was still OHKing his sexy black dropsuitnso I say if people will buy then let them.
I only wish ccp had unlimited funds so they could do more faster... and if proto suits on people who cant usebthem effectively and die a lot and have to buy more all thime time... I say bring on the proto stomping. |

Oh yes, it would be bad for the economy.
Feel free to spend as much real world money on the game as you want with P2W, but plain old garden variety ISK would be a terrible tragedy.

Assault vk0 is better than the type-II, not by as much as most people think. For me the biggest perk is the second gear slot. Having remote explosives and nano-hives makes the whole battlefield a minefield. Being able to plant 5 explosives while running 700ehp, and a duvolle makes you a pretty big presence on the battlefield. You can basically become part-logi while still rocking the much better assault suits.
I think you could make a good case for the B-series being better than the vk0 because of the natural shield bonus, faster movement speed, and faster shield recharge rate, but losing that 2nd gear slot is pretty big. The B-series is also gated behind 600k SP compared to the AUR vk0. |
