What should be the focus for the developers as they continue to work to make Dust 514 the best of all possible FPSMMO science fiction set in the EVE Universe games?
For me it would have to be to make the game as stable and fluid to play as possible.
This means continuing to work of getting consistent frame rates, reducing choppiness and what players generally call lag, improving movement over terrain, making sure that starting the game, getting into a match, spawning, shooting, moving, all feel as solid and smooth as possible.
That basic foundation of the moment to moment experience of game play has seen a lot of improvement but has a lot of room for even more improvement. I am trusting that CCP do not see those aspects of the game as finished, or a done deal in any way. Now that the game is more or less playable.

Greatly improve overall textures and texture loading times so every time I try to show this game to someone it doesn't come off as low production value and instantly ignored. Sad but true.
Luckily they have been focusing on this. |

Yeah, some of the maps still drop down to sub 15 frames a second...
But everything about grouping up and playing the game with friends could do with a drastic overhaul. Everytime I try to explain how to invite a friend to a squad in local it takes a few paragraphs. THis is something that should be self evident and easy.
Also, in the corporation it can take 5 or more minutes just to load contacts. And I have no idea how anyone is sorted in my contacts list to find them to add to squad. THe search feature is slow as heck, even when I have a keyboard hooked up and know wxactly how to spell the name I am looking for. None of those tools are working all that well. The game really needs to be group friendly and now it is not. |

I agree that functionality is more important, however the game at the point functions well enough to be fun. For all of us discussing this we've been able to look past the visual shortcomings so we couldn't care less how long it takes for them to make improvements on that front. However, this game is open to the public and more and more people try it and delete it after 5 minutes because it the the visuals are so bad it makes this game come off as very low quality. Every second that goes by before a visual increase is another moment where gamers outside of our community help give Dust 514 a bad reputation. It is in that sense a priority.
I am convinced that if they improved the visuals to a more acceptable level the existing functionality of the game would be enough to make a fan out of several people out there, and a game like this needs as many fans as it can get. So that's just my opinion, make the game not look like garbage and then continue working on gameplay stuff. |

I just want them to keep doing what they are doing just like EVE.
I hope they fully integrate it into EVE Online.
I want to see huge things in the Faction Warfare side of things. |

Unreal engine no like texture loading. Really, Most Unreal games have Texture loading lag on PS3 and Xblox

^This is it exactly. This needs to be addressed.
The game mechanics work, but to be quite fair and honest, they are flawed. This is all well-explained by the OP.
You have to find a way to beat this, CCP, or it will poison everything you add on top of it. |

Luckily they have been focusing on this. Unfortunately, the only game I've seen that didn't have this issue somewhere and used Unreal Engine 3 was Dishonored. Texture loading issues and UE3 seem to go hand-in-hand. I'm curious how Arkane Studios over came that. |

P.S. I would love to put a lot of hard though into what the game needs beyond this, and what development priorities should be, but with the game mechanics like they are it is pointless. We are not free and clear yet - everything could still slip into the void of failed development if the mechanics and feel and controls can't be mastered by our devs.
