Just picked up the whole kit and kaboodle and tried it tonight.
My thoughts:
First, the pain. Arggghhh, my fricking shoulder has a knot in it the size of Manhattan from all the stress.
This thing is terrible. Granted, I've never used one before, but it..is..awful. I tried changing the deadzones, sensitivity, changing firing position, recalibrating multiple times, and tried to get used to the movement control through everything. Half the time I spawn looking at my feet.
I can't hit the target, not even as a Sniper. The crosshairs are fiddling and jigging, and jumping all over and when you fire, it just gets worse. This happens even when you have it cradled with your arms and the gun resting on your lap. Even when you turn the sensitivity down to 50.
Yes, the gun gets in the way when you are trying to sight a target and your position is off.
The movement is terrible. Outside the deadzone, you often just fling your look around when you try to change directions. On the edge you gradually move, but a hair either way and your either dead still, or you're flying off again. You can flick and move, and it's not bad, but trying to do this while running is painful.
They shouldn't even have sights and look in the same mode; there should be a toggle for look. Thining of this, I wondered if the left toggle couldn't be look, and the square button walk. Aim as you want, change your view with toggle movement, and push square when you want to move. Strafing might be a problem obviously, but there should be 2 toggles on this thing.
I'm going to try dropping both deadzones down to minimum so it's aim where you look of sorts, once I feel like putting up with the thing again.
I had to recalibrate this thing multiple times too. What's with that; just a bad design on the part of Sony? The first time, it just suddenly started looking at the ceiling, and I had to point it at the floor to center my view. After that, it just randomly shifted here and there, and I'd have to move left or right in my seat to bring it in line again. ..or change how I lifted the Sharpshooter.
I might have to try without the Sharpshooter, to see if it's easier handheld.
Also, randomly shooting without pulling the trigger? Happened like 2-3 times. Just like that, it's on full auto, or maybe just a short burst, like the 2nd time.
Weird. I didn't buy used.
I don't hate it, because I haven't yet reached the conclusion that it's completely hopeless, and actually, I want to try it in another game to see if it functions better elsewhere.
Also, never calibrated it on my PS3 before I played. Did that after from settings, and hopefully it'll work better next time.
Either way, movement and aiming is absolutely awkward to terrible, respectively. |
