So I've noticed that since they "fixed" the straffing the fight comes down to who has more damage mods on his gun. It doesn't matter of skill anymore and moving around has no effect. Whoever starts shooting first and has more damage mods ends up winning..
Also a side effect of this fix, is that now when you go down a little 6 inch hill, you all the sudden can't get back up anymore if you're trying to move sideways. Instead you get the same falling effect you do when trying to climb up a steep hill, and it's not until you face the half a foot hill, that you can actually get out.
So far I'm not liking this build. the last one while shoddy hit detection seemed to be more fun to play, this one just seems to be about running straight at the enemy and shooting them hoping they don't have a stronger gun.

I agree... I mean seriously... Who ever said, man... Straffing is cheating.
Should grab a pretend gun and see how fast the can side step. Its all it fidelity of their leg movements. Football players occasionally can near run side stepping. Same with running backwards... You can run backwards if you need to... I don't know why they dampered it down for.
You are suppose to be a clone soldier, but I guess you can't chew bubble gum and walk at the same time?
You can use and not cringe at high explosives, but you are clumsy when side stepping.
Its kinda senseless... I imagine someone got shot up by a face-full of shotgun and just didn't like the fact of how the other person was stepping out of their aim... LOL |

Ok take an AR and fire it fully auto while strafing sideways and then you come across a change in elevation of the landscape, keep your perfect aim maneuver up the small hill and don't trip. Good luck I expect to get your success on video. |

then make my shots go all over the place.. but don't make me keep fumbling trying to go up 1/2 step as if I'm trying to run against a brick wall. |

kk we'll give you the accuracy you would actually get, by the way you can no longer hit a moving target unless you're standing still and shoot in short bursts, or unless you have incredible luck...............have fun with the game

You ever heard of firing from the hip... I could run holding my arms out, with a 8 pound RPG and still fire it... Might not be dead on but even than its all about ... A skill called " HAND - EYE - COORDINATION" .
HAND EYE COORDINATION, is the ability to know where your finger is pointing, even though you are not looking down your arms length. Shooting from the hip, would require hand eye cordination.
Soldiers are taught how to fight in cross country warfare. I guess you think the army just fights in a playground or something?

Where was that "Welcome to New Eden" generic defense when people were whining and crying about strafe speed? Why is it ok that battles should be based solely on who has the best items, or who shoots first? Why is skill being a factor a bad thing?

Scouts are pretty much useless now with great hit detection. I've heard two dedicated scouts say they'd rather just go assault to tank with the same speed... and have more tank by default |

Maybe now scouts will be used as actual scouts instead of circle-strafing combat machines.
It's easier than ever to be sneaky, and hit and run tactics still work. |

What, you expect us to be hiding behind cover all the time? not possible when traveling to an objective. You can't just strafe away in the middle of a gun fight anymore to hide behind cover anymore since strafing has been nerfed. |

If they going to take strafing out then they need to change the maps to account for cover. For example stone walls you can hide behind, Large holes in bollads you can shoot through etc.
Some of the maps have wide opens spaces and little to no cover you need to be able to move in unpredictable patterns to surivive and that means the ability to strafe.
If they want the maps as they are they need strafing in the game. If they want a more tactical no strafe game then the maps need to be changed to be more like mag where there are terrain features and emplacements that allow for cover and advantages for using terrain.
If your going to make it a pure tactical shooter then the maps need to reflect that.
And I believe in that instance you may loose many fps players because even tactical games like socom have good strafing (mag to for that matter and CS).
If your making this a tactical and skill based game then you need to put strafe in.
I personaly don't want to play a fps game where the people with the best equipment alone are the ones will win. A FPS by its very nature is skilled based and these need to be reflected in the game mechanics imo.
For me thats why mag was such a good game because a level 1 expert could take out a max leveled no skill guy even with all the advantages he had. People need to be rewarded for using their brain and skill. |

I think stafing is great as it is now.Why should you go Socom 2 stafe mode in a first person game.People last build just shot from the hip like they do on Call of Duty running side to side not even trying to aim..Now it is alot more aim, shoot,& take cover instead of just ballroom dancing shootouts. |

Call of Duty has terrible hipfire accuracy, and rarely anyone hipfires in those games; it doesn't make sense why you would compare shooting from the hip like they do in CoD when that isn't how people play CoD. In CoD you have to zoom in all the time unless the person is like 1 meter away from you, its pretty terrible. Strafing isn't even prevalent in CoD either since people die so quickly from just 3 shots, and so strafing doesn't really help much since a couple of those shots are bound to hit you. What CoD IS like is the same thing that low strafe speed leads to, and that is whoever shoots first usually wins regardless of maneuvering skill. Hipfiring is not the same as not aiming. Hipfiring requires you to aim your reticle at the target; just because you're not looking down a scope to shoot people, doesn't mean you aren't aiming at all, and it certainly doesn't mean it takes no skill. |

i agree side stepping is not tactical, not a trained solider in the world would try that, If they wanted to stay on target. It is about cover, stepping out and looking around and being stronger ,yes that sucks but only when you are not the one with the better gear. so level up and try different fittings |

This isn't real life. This is a game set thousands of years in the future where you play as immortal clones equipped with technologies that transcend our warfare capabilities, and enhance the mercs to superhuman capabilities.
Tactical means relating to tactics, and tactics is whatever set of available actions you do to maximize a desired result. Tactical =/= realistic. |

Unless you start a year 2 years from now and you never have the gear to compete where is the fun in that.
Thing is with strafing everyone can do it if they so chose with equipment its going to be in the hand of the elite or huge corps.
At least in mag if I vet i could get a bog slandered gun at level one and kill someone at 60 who the hell am i going to do that against someone with max builds there is no chance.
The other thing is that in eve itself you have fast ships interceptors that's job is to be fast to avoid fire while still having impact on big ships etc. In the same way scouts should be harder to hit unless you have skill because by their very nature they are sacrificing protection for speed and mobility. (they now just have speed)
People forget that eve has a large PvE side of things so the grind doesn't matter quite so much as pvp is just part of the game.
In dust PvP is really 95 percent of the game (5 percent vs drones etc later on) so it has to be balanced differently
There must be ways for people who are good in fps's to at least have some chance early on.
To get as many people in and stay in and keep coming in there needs to be help for new people coming in.
Skill has to have a major roll in how the game plays in viseral way. It is not eve with point and click and go over there and the computer does it. This is immediate action and reaction stuff.
Whats the point in having an fps if its all about the equipment may as well have been a rts in that instance. |
