hey guys, i just thought that i would let you know that i am ultimately pleased with the content in this patch :)
i havent played any matches yet, all i have really done is read through the release notes, smiled a lot at them, made my character again and look at the starmap :) but i am really excited once again to get in there. the reason i am not playing it just now is because im uploading stuff to my youtube channel and its still got an hour to go. my internet is really that bad you see :P
but i cant wait to get in there, im totally blown away by the amount of stuff there was to read in the release/improvement notes at the start and i cant wait to try the move support :D
thanks very much CCP, delivering as always :D

i was curious about one thing though....
...in the release notes it says that there is intregration to the eve market and contracts. exactly how deep is that right now. are we buying items from eve players now? :) cos im an eve player and i want to get my finger on the blueprints for Dust514 item ASAP :D

the update is terrible... HAVs around every corner massive damage increse to certain guns no malitia blaster turret and unremoveable, terrible default classes. they just need to change damage on most guns aswell (exept swarm lancher, swarm nerf was olny good thing about patch) |

It looks and runs alot better. But yeah havs are everywhere and you can kill people so fast now that it's no where near as satisfying as it used to be. I mean seriously, shields just fall away after a couple of bullets. May as well wrap myself in tissue paper.
Other than those, I do love the update, The new map looks great and the armor on the mercs looks amazing. Also! alot of new sci-fi sound effects! I love nothing more than sci-fi sounds. |

Honestly i preffer the new damage it has extended the range at which you can effectivly kill people
What i do think was a bad call is militia tanks and militia dropships they should be a investment in trying to win a battle rather than something you can just call in with out any sort of investment, |

I suspect it isn't added damage, but the inprovement to the hit box, but having not played it yet and since I don't remember what the release notes said (I'm at work atm) this is pure guess. |

ok, well thanks for the feedback guys.
after having played it for about 4 or 5 hours straight....i have to say, im still quite impressed. but ill get the niggles out of the way first.
- when re spawning on the main map and choosing a point to spawn in at...sometimes the colours of the turrets and buildings are red, when they are friendly to us...making it hard to (at a glance) know where you would be the most useful. an annoying little bug, but a serious one when it comes to team coordination.
- SPAWN KILLING! DAMN! this has never been a favoured game mechanic in any game lol and i think i know why. its not designed to be one. it is a bi-product of poor implimentation of the game design. i have seen many thread on the forums over the past couple of week suggesting way to fix the spawn camping. its so easy to find the spots. whether you are doing the camp, or being the victim...it gets old really quick. and the fun of the match just flies right out of the window because you realise that its just like CoD all over again. you learn the map, you find your spot...and you just do the same thing over and over again. i know Dust will never be like CoD cos there are too many maps lol but still, you see my point. its annoying!
- Bunny hoping is still annoying me too. but i dont think that is going to go away. just get the KB/m support in here so we have the fidelity in the controls to **** them all before they hit the ground again :)
ok, thats the niggles done.
as i said at the start...i am impressed by the overhaul.
the graphics look really sweet....REALLY sweet. all shiny and glorious. from the characters, to the weapons and effects...all the way to the terrain objects of cover. its looking really nice, and runs quite smooth also. so....kudos on that front CCP. the aesthetic of this game all has me smiling from ear to ear. its gritty and i like it :D
someone earlier mentioned HAV's. he is right in saying that there are a lot of them. in one match we had 3 either side once. on a map that size....its a bit OTT. but hey, i wasnt complaining when i was in the other seat in one, or was blowing one up :) teamwork for the win :D
also, something was said earlier about the fact that its easily to kill people now.....that shields do almost nothing. i gotta say. i kinda like it like this. from an attacking point of view...it makes for skill growing in making the 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th shot succeed in hitting after the first. thats pressure right there. you could sneak up on someone....take down their shield (at which time there are now startled) and then make sure that you track that guy like your life depended on it...which it does! think about it. Its a shield, not a 2nd armor. its powered but a little powercell or osmething somewhere on a suit the size of your body....so its a back up, an alarm system. on the receiving end...it also adds the pressure of getting your act together when your shield get hit. if anything, ive died less since this update than i did before, purely because i know that my shield is that friend that tells me when **** is going down....but then i need to do something about it, because once that shield has squealed.....its gone. it works well i think. plus....it encourages you to tank properly for your gamestyle when you sort out your fits....just like in eve.
as for the balancing of weapons....some of them are really over powered thats true. i was full stats, to dead because of splash damage from turret. splash damage killing me? i wasnt even all that close to where the shots hit. so thats a little annoying.
I LOVE the ability to do a little impulse buying and fitting in the War Room. its a great touch. i do like a little impulse shopping now and again :D
Finally....the zoom reticle on the assault rifle (and others) that is a properly distinguished reticle. i said in a post not long ago that the whole point in zooming is to focus in on something and get a better shot. it has always done this but beforehand, you could still see everything in the rest of your screen easily, and it was distracting. now though....a nicely made bubbly effect to focus in on the focusing of your shot. NICE JOB! I LOVE IT!
ah, here's a thing. earlier today i got some SP together, upgraded some skills....played a match, and when i was being awarded the SP for that match...my total SP was in minus :S how did that happen? has it happened to anyone else? i have no idea what made it do that, it confused the hell out of me and i was using the following to match to hit 0 balance again. weird stuff.
i do however really like the award screen at the end of a match. its nicely laid out, easy on the eye and the brain. the only thing that i dont like about it though is that its tell you how much SP you COULD have if you had a boosting. i think its kinda taunting. yes....we know that you want us to buy aurum to get boosts and stuff....but there has to be a less direct way of letting us know they are there. like an ad in the MQ or the War room or something. its much better than (and forgive the expression) rubbing it in the faces of the people who either dont want the boost cos they dont play enough, or cant have it cos they dont have the spare pocket money (for the younger players) its just a tad "sticking out the tongue"-esque.
i like the graphic distinctions between the suits now. you can tell what suit someone is wearing just by looking at it and i think its really awesome.
i think thats all i have to say :S im running out of characters so ill just say this....
....this is the crucible of DUST514. by no means finished, fixed or perfect....but a GIANT MAN STEP in the direction that shows 1) you are in the process of making a phenomenal game and 2) CCP has the minds to weave their dream with the community dream together. Once again your eyes and ears have been open CCP and i thank you for taking our worlds as serious as we write them.

I'm dying a LOT more - which is how it should be. This means the guys with actual gun game skills have got accurate hit detection when they shoot me.
Swarm launcher is completely worthless on infantry now - also fine, I prefer hunting vehicles with it anyway
Am seeing a LOT more vehicles (soft ones too - makes my swarm launcher happy)
New map is a bit of a pain when it comes to lines of sight / lines of fire - but this is good, it encourages more run and gun play when there's tighter quarters and more cover
back to testing the toys - will edit as I test the stuff I used last build
OOO overheated and rebooted - shiny new GFX = very hot PS3
Mass driver doesn't seem very effective - needs easier aim, more damage, more blast radius, or some combo of the above.
Forge gun is not nearly as gimpes as I expected, still able to cross map snipe both people and vehicles with it.
If the SMG was actually toned down, I haven't noticed - must be the hitbox fix.
Still cant use an in game assult rifle worth a damn, but that's no surprise given my gun-game |

i havent had a heating issue with my ps3. that really strange :S
as for the mass driver. i would get the skills up. i have found that the sklils are really influencing the use of weapons in the game. like turrets and guns on the transport ship or maybe even just a 2nd turret on the tank.....i find that my aim is good, but when i fire, my skills dont hold the shot well so the shot can go off target. needs extra "skill" to pull it off :P |

I've found that using an upgraded weapon and increasing your skills increases your dps by QUITE A LOT. For example, before the E3 patch I had used a Breach assault rifle (the standard one) to quite good effect. I noticed after the patch the Breach rifle wasn't doing as well as I thought, so I upgraded my assault rifle skills, and got the Advanced breach gun, and my GOD the damage difference is ABSOLUTELY noticeable. can't wait to get the prototype gun. I think people are dying a bit fast now, i think because the hit detection has been fixed. Maybe a buff for more survivability would be nice, because these suits and guns are assets, i don't feel like they should die so easy. But, again, teamwork. Which is lacking and a hard thing to test. |
