Mode 1: Training
You spawn at the top of the bridge of the Academy map (the giant bridge that has 4 missile installations) and are ordered to jump down and activate Dampeners. Failure to do so results in death and you will drill until you get out right, God Damn Blueberry!
Once you are down, you will notice a merc in the distance. A message will pop up: "To shoot press and hold R1. Aim at the dummy." Failure to do so will result in absolutely nothing, you WILL hit it. You better. Ammo replenishes for every magazine wasted.
After that, it'll tell you, "You can aim down sights with L1. This allows you to be more precise as well as read enemy Intel. Hit the dummy's head". Same as before.
Blah, blah, blah, "To crouch, press circle. This allows you to be even more accurate at the cost of movement speed. To stand up again, press circle again." Here, you'll have have to hot the dummy while crouching. Another message will pop up: "For the most accuracy, crouch and aim down sights."
After that,"You can sprint with L3. Each the marker within X amount of time." Here, you'll regain free movement (within a closed area due to invisible barriers) and must make it to the marker in time. Failure results in death and spawns you back where you were. The marker is the academy teleporter. Reaching out will spawn you back where you were and you'll proceed to the next tutorial.
Here, two more dummies will spawn close to each other with a sliver of health. "To use grenades, press L2. Holding L2 will cook the Grenade. You have 6 seconds to throw out before it detonates. Hit all 3 dummies simultaneously". Failure to do so replenishes grenades.

Cont.
Then you'll get tutorials to spawn LAVs, use equipment, whatever. This mode is always available and you may return to it any time.
If you get two losses in a row, with a low K/D and/or WP, you will get a mage in your quarters asking if you want to take it again.
Mode 2: Target Practice
In here, the dummies will move around. Some will strafe in a straight line (horizontal), and others in a circle. Practice your aiming here. If you're horrible, you'll get chucked in here.
Mode 3: Battle Simulation
You'll be put up against a fireteam made of 4 frontlines. One for each race. Here, the new guy will discover that his wraps are very affective against one race, but not the others.
The fireteam will always stay close together and will walk around the map in a preset route. They'll walk through CRUs, an objective, and a supply Depot. They will hack objectives, cover each other, return fire, and shoot on sight. They're AI will be quite dumb, however, and will not rely on the TacNet.
They spawn on their own MCC and will head to the nearest CRU. Once there, they start their route commute.
The player spawns alone and will have to kill each merc and halk objectives an X number of times.

Academy must be extended to 15k WP. Add 2 more maps (so the new guys can learn them. Seriously...)
Lock FW until player has reached 50k WP. Pl0x.
That's all I can think of for now. Do this, and the game will improve.

Extending the academy is useless. Just make the academy based on a set of missions that gradually increase in difficulty until graduation is finally achieved.
To stop this from becoming farmable a secret set of missions would auto graduate you because you are farming.
Seriously tho we have pretty well proven that just letting people aimlessly run around "learning" until they reach some static number of WP is useless.
I think the FW lock would become unnecessary because players coming out of the academy would actually have some in game knowledge.
