Has anyone else noticed the huge rise in ignorant half wits demanding sources for everythhing. It's as if they think their parade of stupidity holds any weight. It's as if they think intellect started with the net.
It's just outright rude and akin to the 'I dont know therefore it cant be' logic.
What do i call these people who quite frankly don't know fk all and yet demand sources for everything. Said types have no real kind of education, some are the wrong kind of hippies and such as well.
Who are these people who don't know sht but demand sources and have no actual intention of finding anything out themselves anyway?.

People who went to school and were forced to cite sources for all their information so people couldn't just make up whatever numbers or statements they want and call them facts?
Its hard to have a reasonable discussion on a topic if people just get to make up their own facts and aren't accountable for the authenticity of the statements. Its hard enough even while citing sources.

Of course but there seems to be this thing of people who know nothing at all in a matter are demanding proof from people who do. Isn't it common courtesy if someone states that they know what they're talking about, that a person who does not know should take what they say with a grain of salt and an open mind and then go find out for themselves.
I was discussing the most recent findings about the human genome in relation to neanderthal DNA to a friend of mine and his friend kept demanding that i prove what i know when he knew NOTHING at all in the matter. He was rather rude about it and didn't even seem to care about learning anything but was more interested in demanding i prove what i know. He kept asking mundane questions and his lack of knowledge was to be blunt, fking annoying and was hard not to say "Look, stfu, you don't know ****".
Let's say two historians are debating and you don't know anything about what they're talking about.
Do you......
A) Listen with an open mind with the intention to find out for yourself and take everything said with a grain of salt.
B) Add nothing to the debate but behave in a very demanding and skeptical manner. Demand sources for everything even though you know nothing on the subject anyway and have no intention of finding out for yourself either.
Isn't B just outright rude considering you'd be involving yourself in a debate on a subject you know nothing about?.

Yeah, at the very least if you are going to be combative, you should be the one demonstrating some evidence to the contrary.
Some people just don't care to be wrong and will behave irrationally if they are put on the spot.

Yeah it's really annoying and i have seen a rise in this attitude in the past 5 ish years. It's as if people don't even care about the truth, not even to be right or wrong for that matter (lol ego) and just go around applying critical thinking to everything with that kind of attitude.
I don't understand how these people think it is acceptable to apply critical thinking skills to things they know nothing at all about. How can one think critically when they have nothing to go on lol.
I feel like i am loosing brain cells thinking about it lol.
Too much caffeine spawned this semi rant lol.

If you have certain assertions you really probably should cite sources if you can. It's part and parcel of academic writing.

Merely stating its not unreasonable to ask for sources or provide them in terms of an argument. Credibility tends to go to the one who can provide verifiable facts. However I don't see it as unreasonable to ask for sources especially when something to you sounds like it is wrong, it is specifically asking for those sources that can lead to a correction on your part and a reaffirmation of your stance.
For example occasionally while discussing something someone will make a specific point to me, I'm not inclined to bullshit my way through the discussion if I can help it nor am I adverse to admitting I was wrong or not possessing of all the required information so I'd ask for a source or reference, having read through the information from the source I'm better informed as to where my counterpart in the discussion is coming from.
Not only in terms of the content he is citing for reference but also the nature of the sources and their political spin as well. You simply cannot expect everyone to know everything, nor can you generalize those who ask for sources as "uneducated".

Except that i do not expect everyone to know everything nor did i say anything along those lines and i said nothing about generalising people who ask for sources as uneducated.
I was very specific about the kinds of people i am talking about as well and the kind of attitude they have. I don't understand how you got he wrong end of the stick despite how specific i was mate.
What you're stating is not relevant to the kinds of people i was commenting about.

Seriously though, I lost a family member to cellular cancer two years ago. The research they do on the family members through bloodwork and DNA testing was rather fascinating to say the least.
We all whom walk upright have roots traceable to ancient times, whether or not there is a connection to Neanderthalic man depends on how far you want to take the testing.
My DNA and bloodline were traced as far back to the Arian Germanic Barbarian tribes between the 4th and 6th century AD. Only reason I got that is because I'm sort of a history freak and asked many questions about the tests as they look for consistency among family members in the samples rather an exact match from one.
As far as the connection to Neanderthal, samples are highly limited and the belief is every ancient civilization has roots in Nomadic Neanderthal Man.

I'm taking it all the way. I can get it done for -ú221 but i'm not quite ready to blow that much on it yet.

All except people from sub saharan Africa (just for people reading, im sure you knew that). Everyone has it yes and the screening shows that the highest concentrations are among asians. Screening showed before that the highest was in tuscany and the surroundng areas. It's an ongoing thing as you most likely know anyway.
It was pretty annoying when the new screening results were shown as I had to accept that what i thought was for about 6 years had been wrong but thats science i guess.
