this is just an idea so i welcome any thought and suggestions that are not simple "NO" or "YES" answers.
this idea would require a rework of pc and a rework regarding something that has been hotly argued about for years in dust and that is tanks and dropships. ok to start this is not a nerf/buff tanks. this is just a suggestion to bring me onto my pc idea and a way to hopefully get more people into playing it.
1) firstly i would like to see pc battles turned into full planetary conquests spanning a week not just a single battle. to do this pc would require bigger maps and multiple battle zones for each district.
a good example of the size and scale of what i'm meaning is the crater map. 4 small maps around a large central map.
the 4 outer maps in my idea would contain support facilities for the main compound which is the district capture point. in order to drop the shields to the main facility the attacking corp must capture 2 or more of the surrounding facilities. you may only attack 1 facility per day and winning would add those facilities assets to your own. a defence win will will raise shields and protect the facility for the remainder of the attack period. corps can choose any combination of facilities including multiples
some possible facilities which i will go into further down the post are
a) clone production plant (clones) b) shipyard (dropships) c) robotics facility (turrets) d) motor pool (tanks)
capturing these facilities will pillage assets to the attackers pool for its offensive. successful defence would put the facility into emergency production adding to your defencive measures.
capturing the central facility will capture the district and its outlining facilities regardless of what other battles were won or lost. the district will be locked out for repair for a period of time.
2) secondly i would like the removal of vehicles (not the LAV) as a cost and sp matter for all dust players and the addition of AI controlled turrets (the ones we have now). these will now be completely corp assets generated by the above named facilities. they will all be pre-fit with the help of all primary vehicle users input for the best balanced outcome and would be mass produced by those facilities. these can be bought off the market or built passively like clones are currently from pc. while not required for pc attacks or defence they can be used.
the reason for this is how do you balance 1 guy against 1 guy when they are incomparable. with this idea sp is release back to all tankers so they never have to worry about spending more than anyone else and removes all personal costs. it puts vehicles as an asset comparable with clones. all players are equal. corps can assign assets freely to any player so they can be used in other game modes but not widely available that they can be spammed etc not that that is really an issue these days but thats a whole other argument on balance i want to avoid with making them corp assets.
the scale of these facilities will vary but would encompass all the different game modes we have come accustomed to randomly. to keep every conquest new and fresh each facility can be any of the 3 mode types such automatic/manual production facilities requiring single (domination),multiple (3 point skirm) or no capture points (ambush)
each facility will add 50 units of its production to the pool of whoever captures/defends it successfully. remaining stock after the district is captured/defended from facilities you own will be used to replenish the minimum defence force of the district type and remainder will go into corp assets if there are any left. each facility will not generate corp assets until all facilities are repaired and minimum defence forces are established.
extra clones and turrets will generate isk extra tanks and dropships will generate assets for corp use.
for the owners each facility allows you to store an extended pool of assets on that planet for defence purposes. losing that facility will deplete those assets to the enemy and bolster their attack so corps will need to decide careful which ones and how many they want to use
losing a clones facility will reduce clone count on further battles losing the robotics facility will remove substantial amounts of turrets from all remaining facilities losing the shipyard would reduce dropship pool losing the motor pool would reduce tank stock
all these things combined would create a new dynamic to what planetary conquest is and gives it a scale to match its importance and creates a need for strategy and planning beforehand. this would take us away from the single battles of little importance that pc has and gives us the full time large scale wars we all want to have.
no conquest will ever be the same
this is just a rough idea so keep that in mind

I could list off the problems of this thread on both hands, but I'll stick with two:
1: Your idea screws over both vets and new players.
2: You're in the wrong forum section.

1) how does it
2) i'm suggesting a possible idea to be discussed not generating an complete idea to be implemented

Not bad. The Galactic Republic approves this. Signed.
I could careless about vets and new players. The most important thing is it will benefit all of us not just a group of pathetic wankers Gg.

A lot wp is generate in game by vehicles, whether assisting kills or by inflicting damage to the vehicles.
That in itself makes that aspect of the idea terrible, it changes the whole game, not just pc.
Other than that, I think the rest is grand. I've yet to get into pc, but I definitely want to |

With 'PC changes' coming SOONtm, now is the time to get these idea's out to the community. This is something Players agreeing on is unlikely, and Rattati should note if all the Players agree then There has likely been a major loophole that can be exploited, again
I like the District layout proposed, with several facilities it makes flipping a District more of an investment It will take more time, effort and ISK along with possibly while tougher battles to aqquire land...
A Corp has to go through 2/3 minor facilities (200/300 clones) before being able to attack the main facility The main facility is a set map, as currently (so would always be the same objective layout) with 450 clones, then having the minor facilities adjustable (not for insane costs, but some) so you can edit map layouts. This means everyy attack, the Attacker is in the Dark about what maps they face, until they reach the main facility
How much would/could be adjustable I wonder? eg. You have 3 minor facilities with the option to edit.. - Map - Objective count (3/4/5)
maybe with, Districts having a fitting availability (CPU/PG amounts decided by District type) This Fitting is then filled by CRU/Depot/Turrets so it gives you a choice of reinforcing some of them - The positioning/amounts would need to be balanced
Saying what PC needs is always going to be opinion based but I'm just adding idea's to Discussion The most important thing is Rattati/CCP taking a hammer to the old mechanics and adding MOAR!!! |

the vehicle thing was a ploy to place every merc on the same level and add a new dynamic to corps other than a place to hang out with other players. corp assets does not remove that wp ability from from the game generated from players using tanks. it does however remove the huge investments players require to use them and transfers that to the corp. a strong corp has a strong asset pool but any corp can buy assets
