Are they actually worth running now?
What is the TTK in comparison to the Combat Rifle? DPS?
On average, how many bursts does it take to kill a Medium Frame?

No.
Longer. The burst delay is very noticeable, unlike with the CR. I'm not sure what the exact DPS is but that's a paper statistic anyway.
Depends what medium frame. It probably approaches 10 on average though.
Stick with the CR. It's just better.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.

I threw the TAR on a Commando suit a few days ago. Forgot how much I liked that gun a year ago. |

I played about three games with the AR variants. I realize that's not much to go on, but here's my thoughts anyway:
- TAR. Worst of the bunch. I only tried it at around 60m, presumably its intended range. The RoF is so low that the enemy is likely to get cover before you finish them. If they have a RR or even LR they'll melt you in seconds.
- BuAR. The RoF is 833 at advanced and 950ish at proto (weirdly it varies with level), and it takes noticeably longer for all three bullets to be applied than the CR (1200 RoF). It also feels like there is a longer interval between bursts as well, as Arkena suggests. The scope and (I think) slightly longer range than standard/breach AR are nice, but only add to the overall impression of a slow-motion CR.
- BrAR. More interesting because it's not just a worse version of a different race's weapon. RR is nearest equivalent but the lack of charge time means the BrAR is more responsive. Even so, you're chipping away at enemy HP at a feeble rate due to that puny RoF. It handles like a mid-range weapon, but it's actually ineffective beyond short ranges. Like the BuAR it's fine for slaying scrubs but you'll die the moment you encounter a decent player with a CR. |

On average, how many bursts does it take to kill a Medium Frame? It takes 1/2 to 3/4 of a clip if they are in the open long enough to get enough shots past that long burst interval
44/4 in a BPO Scout (1.8) 40/5 in a Proto Assault (1.7)

The only way to buff the AR is to increase rof |
