I just played one match in a heavy suit so this is definitely a first impression. The map was also the wide open 3-point map and I wasn't squadded up because I was just fiddling with new suits.
So I was on my own with no one around except a scout that was in the distance. I saw him cloak up and tried to be on guard. Nevertheless a few moments later I was two shotted by a Creodron shotgun out of nowhere. I didn't have a chance in hell. That happened 2-3 more times that match.
Anyone running around away from a cluster of teammates is going to find this game unplayable now.....but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Cloaking definitely adds another layer of strategy to the game and will make it more dynamic....unless it turns out to be so OP that no nerf will make it work. But that's unlikely. CCP have shown themselves willing to nerf things as far into the ground as is necessary.
If I had been running with 3 squadmates that scout would have gotten one shot off on me and then either killed me and died or failed to kill me and died. Then again....if I had been running with 3 squadmates and then 4 scouts with Creodrons decloaked on us then we would likely have all been squished like helpless bugs, so we're back to square one. Of course I don't know if that would be a winning strategy for them overall.
I predict that we'll have a month to remember and then CCP will change the nature of cloaking so that, as in EVE, there will be a delay after decloaking before you can fire a weapon. |

I find being in clusters of blueberries is my favorite way to play. I fit an injector and a dia lia rep tool and do my best to keep the team alive. I also run a scrambler rifle to pick people off the roof

The first change needs to be decloaking when damaged, with a delay before being able to re-cloak (I've heard 5 sec delay, which is about right). They could add a skill to minimize the recloaking penalty, maybe the base delay would be 8 secs, and maxed it would be down to 3? I'm just spitballing.
Best PvE idea ever!

Attempt at humor = fail.
Situational awareness: yes, any of that would of course now lead me to stay close to others as often as possible so I'm not the easy-pickings straggler. Otherwise um what's your grand strategy for avoiding an invisible person proto shotgunning me in the back at point blank range?
Eyesight: see "invisible"
Cloaking is novel and interesting and could add a lot to the game....or it could actually make the game a lot less interesting due to everyone restricting what they do to avoid being victims of cloakers. |

That would be a great start. We'll see. It's worth temporary chaos to try to find a balanced role for cloaing in the game. We are on the test server after all. Don't get me wrong. I love CCP and what they're doing and that they're willing to put it out there and let it be OP for a bit and tweak it. That's how this works. It seems to be Win Button right now though.
As for "eyesight", remember guys, some of us are playing on TVs without great resolution. That makes it harder for us to detect the little faint blue outline. |

Only thing that needs to be fixed is the decloak taking about 5 minutes, which you can still shoot for.
Other games: You decloaked? You're entirely visible now. Dust: You decoloaked? You're still invisible for about 5 seconds.
If you hear the words "WORTH IT!" look about, something hilarious just happened.

Hey I tried something that worked okay before once and never again. Go easy.
Even if I was with a squad of 6 that's focusing on forward action and I'm the guy in the back--maybe the not-so-tanky logi with a rep tool--a scout could decloak in a nice spot for cover and retreat, charge shot me with a scrambler rifle, finish me off before I can do a damn thing, and then run off. Whole thing happens before anyone else knows anythings going on. Come back to me after that's happened to you however many times in two hours and you've lost however much ISK as a result and then go ahead and preach.
What's the downside for that scout? Why would anyone choose to be anything other than a cloaked scout from here on out? Admittedly I need to play 1.8 more to have a better idea. |

60 seconds of cloak....running behind visual obstructions and out of my field of vision at 8+ speed...running back towards me from a random direction, only "visible" as a ghost for a second after running from behind a hill...still half cloaked after the first shotgun blast to the face. Granted I shouldnt have been out on my own, but--at least in that situation--that's clearly OP. There's no answer for that in that situation. |

Oh look at that. A heavy with an HMG that does 900 DPS, 1200 eHP at the minimum, and resists to 2 of 5 damage types is complaining that his counter - countered him.
Cloaked shotgunner is the heavy destroyer, get used to it.
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

As a scout who has waited for quite a long time for the cloak, and having died many times in the match I did get to play, while cloaked, I think you just need to adapt.
It happens every build. Things change drastically, and you need to adapt to the new environment. Just be patient and give it time.

Heavys with HMG already have a counter. It's called mobility and engaging at range. Heavies aren't so good that opponents must resort to invisibilty to counter it. Heavies are already easy targets from range when not in a favorable location/situation, and when they are in a favorable situation they're hammed in and predictable, susceptible to flanking. Adding invisible shotgunners to the equation will create drastic imbalance. You'll see.
Then again...maybe a new balance will be found. Not skilling into heavy this week though! |

Cloaks are fine. What we need to change, is the ability to see them.
When a cloak is up, you get reduced scan signature, right? Simply remove this mechanic. If a scout fits no profile dampeners, then they will get scanned even if cloaked.
Best PVE idea I've seen.
