I decided on my alt I would skill into Cal Logi. Donated ISK to my alt, and specced into Cal Logi and basic RR. I ONLY shot reds who shot at me, or if they were around someone that needed to be revived. I like this role a lot. I would like some advice from fellow Logis due to lack of experience. Thank you ahead of time. Oh yeah, I used militia injector and repair tool. The fit only costs 7k.

Get advanced logi, then get advanced rep+injector+nanohive (especialy since nanohive will be your thing of choice in 1.8) maybe have another fit set up with a basice uplink and scanner for times when you need it, Get in a squad and try to stay behind the group, never run ahead unless your volenterring to hack while they cover you. If you get a lvl 4 ot 5 rep tool you could strap a leash on a heavy and become their best friend.
Biggest peice of advice tho, find a squad who lacks a logi, being "That random blueberry logi" wont get you near as many points or fun as a squad logi. Also be prepared for the squad to work you like a dog.
These forums must be located in the Californin country side, there is whine as far as the eye can see.

The best advice I can give is, get all the equipment and use lots of fits with different combos. Injector and repping are cool if you're into that sort of thing (using a rep tool makes me want to claw my eyes out), but IMHO uplinks and nanohives are more important, especially because of the amount of triage you can put out without having to put your gun away, if you're willing to drop some cash on proto nanohives.
Until they do something about our ability to spam various types of uplinks and hives, what some would call "equipment spam" is both the best way to earn WP and the most effective means of fortifying a position. It forces your enemy to choose- do they deal with the equipment and get shredded by your infantry, or focus on the infantry and hope they can kill them despite the equipment?
In an ideal position you can just swap suits at the depot and not have to die, but if you do have to die (I have been known to commit suicide simply to switch equipment loadouts): First spawn: 2 or 3 sets of uplinks Second spawn: proto nanohives on an advanced suit Third spawn: rep tool, injector, other nanohives or REs depending on preference. |

How second poster told, stick with group (heavies are best - like in TF). Fix tool out and heall everything around. Make Support and Tactician class (for you like runner will be tactician i presume more fun) Support - ammo/repair hives Tactician - droplinks Put whole in stamina, shielding and armor like core base for suit.
Support - Tactician/Support

In terms of fittings, it really depends what sort of Logi work you're doing. If you're heavy humping / chubby chasing (can't decide which term I like more) then max tank is the only thing that matters. Otherwise, I highly recommend at least an enhanced cardiac reg due to logis' poor max stamina and mediocre stamina regen, and a kincat if you have room can make you a great logi-scout. |

If you want to be an actual logi, go into level 3 of hives, injectors, rep tools and uplinks, and an advanced suit of your choice. Create fitings based around each equipment, and deploy them in strategic points or defensible areas in each map where support is needed. Lots of times those are supply depots, especially in Doms -- frequently, whoever controls the depot controls the point, so make a point to place uplinks around them, so that they tend to be defended.
Do not be that douchbag logi in every other match that deploys hives around the supply depot in an attempt to farm as many WP as possible from mercs changing out their fits. If you do, you should be ashamed to call yourself a logi, and you are utterly useless at your job. Deploy hives (especially repping hives) in known choke points or positions that need defending, where they do your team the most good -- do your damn job, in other words. Uplinks are better for around a depot.
I have a series of fits, each dedicated to a type of equipment. When a match starts, I deploy uplinks where I think they are most useful/protected, then I go find a supply depot, change out to a 'hives' fit, and deploy those in important places for my team. Then I go back and switch out to more of a 'slayer' type fitting with a dam mod or two and a rep tool, and support my squad/team. But while I'm doing that, I'm always keeping an eye on my equipment -- if it got used/blown up, I go back to the depot and resupply those positions, then go back to repping and rezzing my teammates.
Every dedicated logi fitting I create has an injector, save 2 that I call my 'basecamp' fittings (which are all hives/uplinks), which I deploy when I want to setup shop somewhere, like a high tower or something.
Being a good logi is about looking at the bigger picture. You have to know the maps well enough to know where most engagements tend to take place, and support those positions. After you've done it for long enough, you'll actually find that where you deploy equipment is actually a great non-verbal cue to noobs and squad-less teammates on where they should be on the battlefield -- it's a subtle way of directing the flow of the battlefield, without actually saying anything. It's more difficult these days, with all the equipment spam every damn place, but you can help by placing your equipment as smartly and logically as possible.

Well said. This right here is how to logi. There's no role, or method of performing the logi role, that has a bigger effect on your team's ability to win the match than what J4yne describes. |

I want to use my injector more, I really do, but god the animation and deployment are so f*cking buggy it drives me insane. Most of my fits are based on reppers, scanners, and uplinks but that's just my personal style.
Anyway, jcobb got you started off 100% right. Next step, head over to the rookie forums, there are helpful threads by myself, shayz, and especially the mack daddy of all logi training threads, the logibro code by redbleach lesangiant. That will help you spend your SP very very wisely.
Oh, and a last bit of advice. If your KDR is of the utmost importance to you, you will need to unlearn what you have learned.

Welcome to the fantastic world of being a logi! My personal fave role in the game
Everyone has given you some good tips on what to do...But the best logi's are the ones who use their equipment to help their team win, not those who are selfish and use them for WPs.
If you want Logi respect: 1) Hives belong in useful places and common thorough-fares - not under a supply depot 2) Is there a fire fight going on??... don't stick your needle into a down team mate until the coast is clear 3) Putting an uplink on/next to someone elseGÇÖs uplink that u just spawned on No. 4) Uplinks are most helpful behind cover/in a corner. No one wants to die immediately upon spawning
One more hot tipGǪ Try set your suits up so that your most frequently used tools are always in the same slot on the equipment wheel. For example my scanner and rep tool is in the same slot on EVERY suit I own. ThatGÇÖs how you get good at fast switching. |

And this right here above, this is very important. ALWAYS put your equipment in the same slot, in the same order, so that it becomes second nature when you are switching between equipment and weapon. Also, L2 is your friend when equipment is in hand and you run into an enemy merc -- allows you to switch to your weapon relatively quickly with the least amount of effort.
