I've noticed this too. They often deal more range to me than I do to the at ranges as far out as 72m, when I'm using my Laser Rifle.

Because 80m is in effective range for a high end CR? Hot fix for Laser Rifle is coming before 1.8 to make it more competitive according to CCP Remnant.

Yeah I use just the basic one and it owns everything but a rail rifle, But that has some what to do with its botched damage resits, only -5 to shields not -10 |

The problem is, with that kind of fire rate, it needs more check and balances.
80% Shields / 120% Armor damage Maybe a .75% reduction in base damage as well.
Even against a shield tank, that thing rips right through you because its just pelts you instantly. The range could use a major nerf. It should out DPS a AR past 50m. More fall off is needed.
But the Rail Rifle is still more of a problem, as it is a no skill weapon. Just hold down the trigger and spray 55 damage? A 5yr old could do that.
But, CCP is trying to take skill out of the game, so it doesn't really matter. They want it to be CoD, because CoD makes money... DUST 514 has proven not to.

Actually that supported his claim that 80m is the effective range of the highend CR. He never said he was gonna link Remnant promising a LR hotfix

It isn't botched. Projectile weapons have been like that for the entire history of the game.
I don't know why CCP did it that way, but it is very clearly intentional. They've even blog posted about it.
IMO, damage profiles should be:
Laser = 120% shield, 80% armor Plasma = 110% shield, 90% armor Rail = 100% shield, 100% armor Projectile = 90% shield, 110% armor Explosive = 80% shield, 120% armor
But you know. That'd make too much sense.

I have to admit, I do love my CR that I use, and I only use the RS-90 to conserve on fitting. It still absolutely rips through people except tanked logis and fatsuits with RRs. Something probably should be done about it, however I don't want it adjusted until RR goes down, otherwise all I have left against RR is ScR (which isn't the worst).

This. Thanks, Arirana. I wasn't clear why I was linking that but since it had CR ranges I thought it would make sense in the context of the post.

I love how people complain that semi-auto weapons out DPS full auto weapons. OF COURSE THEY DO. They require you to place shots rather than spray damage everywhere and just swipe your crosshair across someone to damage them.
I also love how people complain that CR's out DPS the ScR. When, if you charge your first shot with the ScR, you out DPS the CR for the first 3 seconds. How many of you have enough health to take 3 seconds worth of ScR fire? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Yeah, ScR is still super effective. I've been using CR for some time now, but decided to take out my Imperial again today for some Dom matches. Forgot just how fun that piece of equipment is at medium to long range. Even the heavies with RR didn't last too long, and I have zero proficiency even, just two damage mods.
It's a trap! In this patch we can't repel firepower of that magnitude! - Admiral Ackbar would say in ambush w Nyain San

There are 6 infantry shield killers ingame, vs 9 infantry armor killers.
AR, SHOTGUN, SCR, LASER, SCP, ION PISTOL
Out or these the only one not out classed is the SCR, the AR is outclassed by the RR and the CR and the SCR thus it is obsolete, the laser rifle and shotgun are broken as hell, the SCP is a novelty weapon and the ion pistol has the smallest dps of all the pistols and it's charge shot has an overheat cooldown meaning using the charge shot will keep you from switching weapons (probably) so it's probably going to be useless.
There are 9 armor killers
RR, CR, Massdriver, flaylock, sniper rifle, SMG, Magsec SMG, bolt pistol.
RR and CR are the best guns right now, the RR being the best omni weapon and having the best DPS distribution out of all the guns due to its range the CR comes second. Thales and Charges with damage mods are insta-win buttons, the magsec boasts the same range as a AR but slightly lower DPS it's basically a cheap AR that costs half the price, the bolt pistol does a whopping 150 per shot fully automatic and has the range of a AR. Because armor is slow all of these weapons just build upon their bonuses to obliterate armor. The SMG flaylock and MD duck so they don't count.
This leaves a total of 1 effective and 1 semi effective shield killer. And 5 effective armor killers.
Armor and Shields are not the same!

25%. A caldari can max 662 shields in 1.7, a Gallente will max 866 using enhanced in 1.8 using complex extenders is still stupid. 730 if the Gallente uses 1 armor repairer.
