please use them correctly... The amount of times ive spawned in on one to be facing a corner or a wall...
You spawn out of drop uplinks in the direction that you place one... So if your going to place it against a wall at least go to the wall and turn around, look down and place it... its really not that hard and only an extra 2 seconds to set it down correctly.

So, you're just insta-sprinting into walls and dying?
I got my hand around the pistol grip, and the safety's off.

The walls no, but it is disorienting for it to happen in a corner, or better yet, maps with small corridors where people like to throw them. |

Sorry, you're going to have to deal with backwards but stealthier uplinks.

The University probably has covered it, but I am never on when they do lectures so.....
And I am a logi, and most of the time I put uplinks in places where people don't get confused. I like to put them near objectives, but not right on them.

The other side of this coin, is that you want to place them in a position were a lone scout or an entire squad (you should not be spawning in on one if this is the case) isnt going to camp your uplink. against a wall/corner facing it is bad, at least if you direct it where your back is to the wall some scout cant just sit there behind you insta killing.
And "stealthy" deployables went away when active scanners became popular. |

Yes good point, facing away from blue MCC or towards objectives helps from being disorientated. |

I have the same problem and I don't like it either. I always put them in the direction that I think is most useful to the merc spawning in.

You know it also only takes 2 seconds to turn around when you spawn in
Does it really matter?

You know what, in a skirmish game it isnt a big deal, but in Ambush, when it forces you to spawn on a drop uplink (even when clicking triangle for smart spawn) then its a big deal, facing a wall with people shooting at you. |

Hate to use the cliche, but if you can't put an uplink somewhere it's hard to find, you're doing it wrong. Obviously it's not possible all the time but if you consider the location of objectives and the range of scanners....

When you spawn you are cloaked long enough to turn yourself around, and sorry but two seconds is a lot of time in an FPS and I'm not going to risk getting shot because you're too lazy to turn around while you're still cloaked.

100-200m is really really far. So if your trying to stay somewhat close to battle, its going to be seen.

First of all even when your invis the reticle turns red when someone spawns and is standing there invis. And secondly when you then shoot said invis person, they immediately become visible. so just standing there doesnt do anything if people are aware of this and are paying attention. |

Well... if you ever dropped one, and then spawned in on your own uplink, i would hope you could put two and two together. |

You'd be surprised. I'd made a nice living off uplinks for months before I figured it out. I had assumed you always spawned facing the nearest objective for some reason. Plus, right when you spawn, most people are really just thinking about where they are headed or who's shooting, not taking time to think about that... Based on the tacnet you can realistically figure out which way to go pretty quick, that was always my thought process on spawning, not the exact angle I was facing.
That said, in most situations I do angle my uplinks as best I can, but it's not always always feasible.
As for your comment about 100m being far from the objective, I guess that's really a matter of perspective. But, they're your uplinks, use (and replace) them however you want.
