Made a thread on it a while back, it would work providing it stayed true to outside the battlefield, you need to have the right skills in order to pick something up and use it, not only this but if you can use a Duvolle but your suit cannot fit it normally (As in, using the fitting menu) then you cannot use it, it should give you a message saying "Weapon exceeds PG/CPU".

You could say the same for stealing vehicles. That's different, of course, because stealing vehicles is a very rare event that only happens once every few matches.
Imagine how that could change the game. Stealing the gear off of those protobears, even for just one life...

I think this is a very feasible thing, and when I first played Dust beta, this is what I mistakenly THOUGHT was occurring every time we accumulated "salvaged" weapons. I mistakenly thought that, in the course of running blindly and killing foes, we were running over (or near) fallen enemy bodies, and that Dust was "absorbing" or scooping up the specific items laying beside the specific dead clone you pass by.
Since many of the dead use proto weapons I'm not skilled for, it made sense that they remain in my salvage assets as "unusable" until I skill up to them. I did not realize of course that the "salvage" system is more a spin-the-wheel distribution that's not directly fleecing each corpse.
I think your suggestion is excellent, GHOSTLY A. It could result in a more realistic "salvage engine", one that instead of distributing the salvage in the roulette wheel style we currently have, specifically salvages ONLY from the dead foes each of us is fortunate enough to walk near before the corpse dissovles. ...Whether you were the one who killed him or not.

Often enough I don't care about picking up the enemy's weapon, it's theirs's the nanites are eating it, whatever, what I want is just to be able to pick up ammo, since behind enemy lines when you run out of ammo you are rather screwed because evem if you get a nanohive out, you have just broadcasted to everyone within a good distance "here I am, come kill me" This was especially true when I was going through academy (longer and more fun back then) my gun would constantly run out of ammo cause no one knew to put down nanohives or least not usually and I would be going "Damn it...I just want a full clip of ammo again is that to much to ask for"
Picking up just ammo should not be putting your cpu/pg out of whack, or providing some unfair bonus against the enemy, this would just be another way of being able to resupply, It could even be a really low amount of ammo like 1/10 or 1/20 of what they had left and I have to quick hack (search the body) to get the ammo. Just something to get me by for a while and back into the game. |

It's a nice idea. Of course I think the challenges that would be faced would be the following:
- You come across a weapon that you aren't skilled to use : Easy solution, the icon just glows RED or something - You don't have the PG/CPU to use it : same solution, some kind of icon glow shows you don't have enough PG/CPU
Apart from that it would allow you in some cases to switch specialities without really hitting a supply depot. Of course some weapons would be destroyed too (maybe when you're biomassed?) so would be unusable. Of course scavenging dead clones for ammo is nice , but the cases where I truly, truly run out of ammo are rare...

I think the OP's idea is pretty sound and I agree that it can be a good alternative to going to a nanohive or supply depot. |

I think it would be a weird mechanic, even if Call of Duty does it.
One, is the fitting system. If CCP tries to make it work on the fly, we may end up with entire suits shutting down, from picking up a militia weapon. Lots of possible bugs.
Another is the Skill System. Making it work on the fly so newberries don't steal 10k ISK guns can cause problems, like maybe Protos couldn't pick up militia gear, and academy freshes could pick up Duovalles
Finally, although not really linked to gameplay, is lore. All our guns are likely ID locked to our clones genetic signature. That way mere mortals don't kill themselves by picking them up. That and nanites eat both our bodies, and guns. |

how about allow you to pick up whatever weapons on the ground that you've already skilled into and usable with CPU/PG?
Edit:also, it wouldn't allow picking up a weapon that shuts down a suit, they would not have a prompt |
