There should be a lot more direct in game communication options for this any many other reasons. +1 |

A very good suggestion - the EULA applies to everything that happens in game and people should not have to log into a website on a separate device to report anything. |

well who decides if there name is or isn't abusive, and if there is an instant penalty then this could be used for major griefing. also what would happen to some one who picked a name that some one doesn't like? there character gets erased? months of work just gone, aur purchased. all just gone. to be honest I really don't care what name some one uses. all this would turn into is a bunch of people mad because some one killed there proto suit or some one killed them in a proto suit. |

CCP decides - it's their EULA; they enforce it. This suggestion just provides players with a way to easily get CCP to enforce it.
You're able to report names or mails already - you just have to do it through the web client by raising a support ticket. Names in breach are changed to something generic like Caldari 13462547. I believe abusive mails are treated in a similar manner to abuse on the forums except that the penalties are applied to the playing account rather than posting privileges.
Edit - also, CCP wouldn't just change someone's name automatically because it gets reported; they do actually check this stuff out instead of blindly doing what any player tell them to. |

racism and RL-threats are enforced pretty strictly, vulgarity is occasionally wrist slapped with a temporary gag. hatemail is not by definition considered a EULA violation. In Eve though, 99% of voice chat occurs via out-of-game channels, so those aren't policed. Most Dust voice chat is directly through the PS3, so while its subject to the EULA, I don't know how CCP would attempt to police communications on those channels.

there wouldn't be an instant penalty, any system would just flag characters for overview.

requiring a forced name change upon next login is SOP for most MMOs, including Eve, on this front.

ok. its just when players are given access to a quick way to grief they jump on it. I think that if a name or mail is really that abusive then people will make the effort to go to that second device and say something about it. but if it is really not that bad then they wont |

The rage, the tears!!!!! It fuels ME! Rage and tears are fine - threats of RL violence or death are not, no matter how realistic a threat they may be. But if you don't mind, you don't have to report it - as long as others have the opportunity to do so if they object to what they are sent.
Also, griefing would only be a problem if CCP were very lax with checking what is actually reported and just dish out bans at the drop of a hat. As long as CCP react sensibly and proportionately, this tool would only do good for the game. |

:( but i like getting hatemail. in fact it would make me sad without those people that think hatemail will do anything except bring a warm smile to my face, and reply to them in a cool headed manner and allow them to realize their mistake.
no i do realize some hate mail is worse than the general, you blew ma tank up gimme 2 million isk.
and that bad, cyberbullying hate mail should be stopped, but don't get rid of All hate mail
now glitches/hacks we see should have a special tab that we can report them from, and to prevent massive trolling with this make it so you need 7-10 people to report similar things (the reason i don't say 6 is cause you could have a full squad of trolls that could help you out) |

Well, what if someone created a player called SponkSponkSponk IsLiterallyHitler? I would call that a bit abusive, and if I were German, it would probably be very abusive, because they take that stuff more seriously than lolaustralians. |
