I feel bad for you scouts.
I've been looking at another role I can fit into on the field (vehicle/infantry omni), so I started playing with a shotty MLT fit. It's awesome running circles around your opponents in a squishy suit (180~ HP), but I now realize why you scouts die so damn quickly. It's not because of the low HP, but because of the shotty fire not registering.
My worst case today was a 4:1 failure to success rate on my shots. Five point blank shots on a heavy hacking an objective...the third one registered, the others didn't at all.
You can run circles around them for only so long, but if your shotgun doesn't register it's shots server-side, then you'll get ****** when their AR gets you every time. i ended up switching to my SMG for the final blow, seeing as the shotty wouldn't take them down all the way after emptying a clip and waiting for some positive feedback
This is going to be my new favorite fit |

Hit detection is still pretty awful. Hopefully it gets fixed in 1.4. One can only hope... |

Tell me about it, I'm trying to skill up in scout and shotty just now, I'm gonna stick with it and hope for a fix soon. |

Try playing with a GLU TAR :D at least a good third of your bullets that you can ACTUALLY HEAR hitting the target do not register :D . Every game I have there are atleast 5 guys that survive from my bullets simply because half of the hits do not register xD . My record so far is 5 consecutive unregistered shots :D
The only way to feel this issue is to try a single shot weapon like a shotgun a TAR or a scram pistol / scram rifle / etc etc |

I have also seen this with allthe auto assault rifles (the TOXIN being the most reliable even my Duvolle or Duvolle tac dont register as well)
The Scrambler feels ok though as does the SMG
The only shotty I have tried is the one that comes with the -ú39.99 pack and even then I could see it not always working (though i did OHK a heavy at point blank range with it) I kinda like the shotgun, and as I want to be usefull across the board (Once I have my Caldari Assault suit maxed out I am going to look at a full AV/Commando role, but the shotgun fitting too.
The hit detection and hit boxes both need looking at, so that more ppl will try dif guns and fitting styles while the AR is fun, I think scramblers are mor so of the shotgun worked right it would be pretty damn lethal too

why should the shotgun need a fix? i really started enjoing, that every time i finally flanked a bunch of proto scrubs, my shotgun fails do dmg them point blank their backs and then getting instafuked by their ezmode duvolles... i love it!!! really.. -_-'' |

hopefully it does better once aiming and all that is fixed in 1.4/1.5?( not sure which one )
I played around with them for a few matches last week and it was fun, but so many misses.. and then odd ass headshots when I know I missed lol.
It is fun, and very rewarding when you do get the kills |

Most single shot weapons that do not have splash damage have issues with hit detection. I tried out the TAC again a couple days ago and had a dead bead on a couple people at medium range (and standing still) to where I knew it was on target. Less than 50% of the shots were registered as a hit. Im pretty sure that its probably true for all weapons but you dont notice it as much due to the rate of fire or splash damage.
TBH - I think that the issues we have been having with the servers is the reason that hit detection has gotten worse. An aiming fix wont fix hit detection |

Its a lot more noticable on weapons with a low RoF, its why I refuse to use anything Breach, unless its the Shotgun. |

CCP did respond to an early "Phantom Pellet" thread, following Uprising 1.2 (if I recall correctly). In response, they acknowledged said issues and committed to "investigating" the cause.
Let's hope they've worked out whatever is wrong with it mechanically -- or sufficiently masked the bug through aim-assist -- as we'll see folks turning around alot faster come 1.4.

Ive seen improvements on hit detection with each successive patch and can only continue to improve, something that should help is to check the jitter on your line, you can use pingtest.net, to test it anything more 15ms and youll have problems and need to ask your isp to fix it!!
I have low speeds about 5Mbps yet only 2ms Ping and my shotty registers 8-9 / 10 of the time!! Hope this helps!! |

I think the proto shotty works just fine though, as I have seen quite a few players absolutely wreck with it. |

Just cause we wreck with it doesn't mean we don't suffer from hit detection, it's REAL bad with Shotty. |
