I don't think it's a big deal because anyone who has actually skilled into tanks is going to have the edge in a straight up fight. You should have better modules + the damage bonuses from your turret skills.

For the most part, E-honor is a very stupid thing. The only I avoid doing is spawn camping my own corpmates if they are on the other team.

Any brain dead idiot can sit on a mountain and shoot at the occasional enemy that enters their line of sight. Sniper rifles in this game use hit scan, so no, it doesn't take skill to use one.
